Great Grilling and Summer Tastiness

My husband and I have had a great summer so far, enjoying family, friends and food in warm sunshine!  What more can we ask for?

Here's a quick rundown of what we've been enjoying.  Best wishes to all for a fun season!
Grass-fed and grilled Fillet Mignon rubbed with garlic, salt and coarse pepper.  Grilled baked potato with olive oil, salt, pepper, fat-free Greek yogurt, fresh basil and chives.

Fresh baby lettuces from our deck, with fresh tomatoes and homemade buttermilk ranch dressing.  Dressing made with Penzey's Ranch Dressing Mix, 1% buttermilk, fat free Greek yogurt and Smart Balance Light Omega-3 mayo.  More decadent and healthier than processed bottled dressing.

Homemade cinnamon and blueberry pancakes with blueberry/strawberry jam and honey.   Bacon on the side.

Grilled baby peppers, green beans and zucchini tossed with olive oil and smoked paprika.

Boneless pork chops grilled and sauced with Honey Chipolte Mojo,  perhaps my favorite grilling and dipping sauce for ANYTHING (even bread).  This incredible sauce is just a taste of what made Chef Eric William's 'Mod-Mex' Momocho restaurant so popular in Ohio City.  The easy 5 minute recipe can be found in Maria Isabella's cookbook, "In the Kitchen with Cleveland's Favorite Chefs," as well as my guest post on her blog.

  1. Looks delish, Charlene, especially those grilled veggies. That grilling basket is a great idea! We have a local company in ATL that makes Greek yogurt from local grass-fed cows. They have a ranch dressing that is sinfully good with no oil; all the creaminess comes from the yogurt. They also make cream cheese, which I'm about to enjoy on a sprouted wheat bagel. Is the bacon pictured here some of that Hungarian bacon?

    1. Hi, Kris! I love grilled veggies. I love the grill basket. I've recently seen one with a locking cover I should get. I can just shake, toss and turn with greater ease.

That authentic yogurt dressing and cream cheese is giving me Pavlovian salivations.

Just regular thick cut bacon. I'm making beans this week for Hubby's work picnic. He and the cats couldn't wait ;)

  2. Charlene, like Kris, I also am quite taken by the grilled veg basket (and that's all I would eat of that ample banquet ;). And that is super food photography!

    1. Upsandey, I wish I could send you some! The smoked paprika really added to the grilled flavor. Thanks for your kind words. I'm saving for better equipment, so hopefully the photos will be more crisp in the next few months.

  3. At long last. England has been at 30 degrees and the late 20s for over 1 week now. I don't believe it. I've been buying those miniature BBQs for £2 and grilling over at the park whenever I can. It's lovely mate, lovely.
I like the look of those grilled peppers, beans and zucchinis so that's my next new park dish. I didn't even think about grilled baked potatoes so that's something else I can stick on the barbie. Thanks for the ideas, and I guess for once in the past few years we are enjoying what you most probably get every year - SUMMER :)

    1. RPD,I have heard that you are having an actual summer across the pond! So glad you are enjoying it! Our summers in the Cleveland area are hit-or-miss. Last year was seething hot too early (low 30s) and no rain. This year, we're getting lots of rain. This is week is supposed to be drier and hotter. And, Cleveland gets only around 90 bright sunny days all year. So like you, we seize each nice day we can around here.

Enjoy your grilling and sunshine! Wrap the potatoes in foil if you don't have a lid on the grill and punch a few holes in them for steam to escape. They should be ready in 45 - 60 minutes

  5. When I see pancakes like that, I reckon I could probably live on the things.

BBQ's & Braai's have to be the best invention (Caveman times?), & I tend to indulge not only in summer, but all year through with pork chops etc. Neighbours have thought me mad over the years.
    Cheers, ic

    1. Maria, his Honey Chipolte Mojo sauce has been a hit off our deck this summer! It's so easy to make I've been trying all my grilled meats with it . It's a show-stopper and conversation starter. Guests started dipping bread into the leftover sauce and discussed how fun that would be for an appetizer next time.
